The England Women鈥檚 cricket team have won the Sunday Times Vitality Sportswomen Team of the Year award.
The honour comes off the back of a memorable summer that that saw the team lift the ICC Women鈥檚 World Cup in front of a packed-out crowd at Lord鈥檚.
It was a dramatic day at HQ with Anya Shrubsole named Player of the Match after taking 6-46 to help see India collapse from 191-3 to 219 all out.
That World Cup win ended an eight-year wait for a global trophy, and it came in front of an audience of over one million people on Sky Sports.
Tammy Beaumont 鈥 who was named as Player of the Tournament 鈥 was nominated in the individual Sportswoman of the Year award but was pipped to the post by speed skater Elise Christie.
Captain Heather Knight said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 great to win the Sunday Times Vitality Sportswomen Team of the Year award.
鈥淲e鈥檙e proud of what we achieved in the summer and it鈥檚 nice to be recognised among so many other impressive sportswomen and sports teams.
鈥淭here were so many highlights throughout the World Cup but seeing young girls in the crowd, and watching them trying to imitate what we were doing on the field was truly special.鈥
鈥淗opefully awards like this will help us continue to grow our game and encourage young people to pick up a bat or a ball and start playing cricket.
鈥淲e鈥檙e still on our journey as a side and we have more work to do. We鈥檒l continue to spend every day trying to get better as individual cricketers and as a team and hopefully that work will help us towards more success in the future.鈥
